GPF Advance - what is the real problem?
Employees are facing very big problem in getting GPF Advance. No GPF Advance is paid for the past 2 to 3 months. Employees are taking advance only from the money deducted from their salary. Then why BSNL is not paying GPF Advance? Fact is that, the amount deducted from employees salary is immediately being remitted to the DoT. BSNL cannot keep that money with it even for one day. BSNL is paying GPF advance to employees from it's own pocket, and claims it from DoT. But, this money is not promptly being reimbursed by DoT. This is the whole problem. At any point of time, amount varying from Rs.500 crore to Rs. 1,000 crore remains outstanding, to be reimbursed by DoT, to BSNL. Now BSNL is not having money to pay GPF advance. This matter is continuously being taken up with the Member(Finance) of the DoT, and also with the CMD BSNL and Director(HR). Yesterday also com.P.Abhimanyu GS, discussed this issue with the CMD BSNL. He has assured to make arrangement for funds in the coming week.
